Yes, we make it possible! If you can’t come to see us at our headquarters at Byron Bay or come to one of our Service Centres then we can come to you.
We do offer remote OnSite training, where one of our qualified Gyro Instructors will come to you or your nearest airfield (must be suitable for training) and providing you with theoretical and practical training in your own gyrocopter.
And as part of our Rural Care & Farming Program for remote regions we can also send out our mobile technicians for the annual maintenance-services or to get your Gyrocopter up and going again in the quickest time possible.
Our associated travel & training costs are calculated as followed:
TRAINING & MECHANICAL WORK
Our Remote Training-Rates are as followed:
Day Rate Remote Training with 1-Student, including flight theory and a maximum of 3 hrs flying daily: $650
Day Rate Remote Training with 2-Students, including flight theory and a maximum of 6 hrs flying daily: $800
(Requirements: Airfield, Runways must be suitable for gyrocopter flight training, students are current ASRA members and aircraft used for training is in airworthy & technically sound condition and fuel provided)
Trial Instructional Flights / Non-ASRA Members are charged separately to our standard rates for TIFs.
MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS
Our standard gyro mechanic rate is $110 per hour and our LAME rate is $139 per hour. Costs for travelling and parts not included. (The costs for all mechanical work will be calculated separately to our training day rates).
TRAVEL COSTS
We only charge $35 per hour/per person for the actual time of travelling to you and back, on the road or in the air. Starting from the time we are leaving from our home Airfield. On top of these costs would come the associated costs of transportation and accomodation. To simplify costs calculations and to keep everything absolutely transparent, we have flat-rate fees and standard rates for most processes. Our rates are as followed:
Travelling by car
When we use a car to get to you then we use the same as the standard ATO Travel cost rate, which is currently 88 cents per kilometre to calculate our milage fee. This means we calculate the distance in kilometres we drive from our Service Centre (YTYH) to your place/airfield and return. The total kilometres multiplied by 88 cents is a standard rate which we charge for the costs of fuel, oil, fees, toll etc.
Travelling by air
When distances are too great for driving all the way and flying to you appears more economical, either in our gyrocopter or jetplane, then of course we would fly there. We would calculate the most cost-effective way to get to you, like using budget airlines and car rental services, which fees we would charge extra.
Accomodation
For all our remote services (training, maintenance & repairs) where either:
- Travel time in a car would exceed a total of 8 hrs a day or…
- Getting to you, finishing the job and driving back home would exceed 8 hrs total
- training / Service / repairs are booked for multiple days… than one or more over night stays are necessary.
In this case we would charge you only a flat rate fee of $140 per day including accomodation & warm meals and incidentals.
All arrangements must be approved and confirmed prior by our Chief Flying Instructor or Technician.
